Launch of Flyttr Africa: New Biosecurity Innovation Acceleration Platform
A new innovation acceleration platform for combating malaria and other critical biosecurity threats
Flyttr has partnered with the Government of Uganda and the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) to combat critical public health and agricultural pest threats at scale in Africa and beyond.
May 21, 2026 (Radford, VA and Kampala, Uganda)— Flyttr™ today announced the launch of Flyttr Africa, a new platform dedicated to one of the world's most consequential biosecurity frontiers. Based in Uganda, Flyttr Africa will accelerate biosecurity innovations into scaled solutions against pests that spread disease, threaten food security, and harm sensitive ecosystems across the continent and globally. Initial efforts will focus on a new generation of malaria prevention tools, including AI-powered decision support, autonomous sensor systems, and advanced vector control solutions.
Africa faces persistent and emerging pest-driven threats to human health, agriculture, and ecosystems, yet it is also a source of next-generation science with applications far beyond its borders. Flyttr Africa will operate at both ends of this dynamic: sourcing and advancing innovations under African leadership, bringing technologies onto the continent for African teams to advance and adapt to African contexts, and building shared pathways for Africa-sourced breakthroughs to reach global markets through Flyttr's platform.
